The late Saudi artist Talal Maddah achieved many successes at the level of the Arab Gulf states, in addition to the successes achieved by his golden voice throughout the Middle East, and among his most important works is the song “My Palace After the Distance”, which was sung and composed by the late star in 1989.
The artist, Talal Maddah, married 3 times, and his last wife held Egyptian citizenship, Maha Abdel Aziz, to whom the late star sang the song “My Palace” following the distance. Maha Abdel Aziz met Talal Maddah on a trip to Abu Dhabi, to get married a week following her return to Egypt.
The song “My Palace After the Distance” was an attempt by Talal Maddah to reconcile her. In a previous television interview with her on MBC, Talal Maddah’s Egyptian wife said that she was angry once and asked Maddah to travel to Egypt to take a vacation.
And she added, “I went down while I was upset, and following I traveled, he had the writer of the words with his close friend and told him regarding the problem, and he told him that she was upset and traveled and I don’t know how his friend spoke to her. He wrote the lyrics of the song according to what he told him regarding the problem that was between me and him.”
And Talal Maddah’s wife continued: “He wrote it and composed it at night, and he called me once more the day he heard the song on the phone, and he told me to listen to this song, I settled it for you and heard it, and on the same day I booked and came back.” The song included the words: “Short following the distance.. It does not take long.. Have mercy on a heart that is tormented by longing.. My eyes know your eyes and what you say.. the truest words.. they come from the eyes.”
It is reported that Talal Maddah married before Maha Abdel Aziz twice, the first to a wife known as Umm Abdullah, who is from the city of Taif, and she bore him seven sons, four sons, and three daughters. Abdullah is the eldest son of Talal Maddah, so the Saudi star was known as Abu Abdullah.
As for the second wife, she was from Umm Rasha, who bore him two daughters, the eldest of whom is Rasha, to conclude his life with his third wife, Umm Khaled, who is Maha Abdel Aziz, from whom he had one son and three daughters.
The death of Talal Maddah was dramatic, as he suddenly fell on stage during his revival of the activities of the Asir Tourism Festival, to announce then that the reason behind his death was a sharp drop in blood circulation, which suffered his symptoms hours before the ceremony, and doctors advised him not to participate in the ceremony, but the star Saudi singing insisted on completing his concert to please his fans.
