The first anti-Covid drug arrives in Belgium: what you need to know about the Pfizer pill

Paxlovid is an oral antiviral drug that is expected to reduce the risk of hospitalization in some patients by up to 90%.

Since last Friday, the first drug once morest Covid-19 authorized in Europe, Paxlovid, has been available in Belgium. Marketed by the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer, it is the very first antiviral drug, taken orally, authorized by the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

With us, the use of these drugs is supervised by the Covid Therapeutics task force. “At this point we have made 10,000 orders but not all of them have arrived yet”specifies Karin Rondia, the spokesperson for the Covid Therapeutics task force. “There will be more than enough to meet demand and deliveries will be spread over time, Pfizer cannot deliver everything at once.”
