The second match of the Men’s U20 League Final Series, organized by the TRNC Basketball Federation, was played this evening. GAU, which won the first match away and took a 1-0 lead in the series, was defeated by NEU with a score of 56-35 and might not use the opportunity to become a champion. NEU, on the other hand, took the rematch of the match they lost at home, brought the series to 1-1 and carried the last match to their own court.
The first period of the match played in Girne Ertuğrul Apakan Sports Hall witnessed a balanced game, GAU finished ahead by 2 points in the period where the superiority constantly changed hands. In the second period, NEU had the upper hand in the game. With the effective performances of Doruk Önet and Refet Karamustafaoğlu, the NEU was able to enter the locker room with a superior 33-23. Continuing its good play in the third period and making few mistakes in defense, NEU reached a 16-point lead before the last quarter. Not allowing the gap to be closed in the fourth period, NEU entered the final stages by keeping the lead and won the fight with a score of 56-35.
Breathtaking final game on April 5th
While Refet Karamustafaoğlu scored 12 points and 18 rebounds in the NEDU, Enes İmralı finished the game with 11 points and Gökhun Gazioğlu finished the game with 10 points. Özer Esenyel and Doruk Önet had a share in the victory with 9 points and 9 rebounds each.
While the stars of the first match at GAU, İlhan Köstem and Aykut Fidansoy, were ineffective in attack, Ardacan Özdemir finished the game with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The last match of the series, in which the champion will be determined, will be played on Wednesday, April 5, at the NEU RA-25 Sports Hall. The winner of the match, which will start at 20:00, will be the champion of the Men’s U20 League.
