THE filming process of Tulang Belulang Tulang experienced a number of challenges. The challenges arose because of the rostrip concept carried by the film.

The film Tulang Belulang Tulang highlights a tradition in the Batak region, namely Mangokal Holi (moving ancestral bones) and will be shown on September 26, 2024.

In addition to raising the theme of culture, this film also applies the concept of a road trip comedy of a Batak family. This family travels from Bandung to the village of Toba to bring the bones of Tulang Tua (grandfather).

On the way, the bones were lost. They panicked and started looking for them with a car.

In the search they experienced many challenges, starting from going through the forest, mountain roads and being robbed. Meanwhile, the family in the village had held a big party to welcome the bones of Tulang Tua to be buried.

Director Sammaria Simanjuntak explained that the road trip concept in the film actually experienced its own challenges during the filming process.

“Because road trips are all challenges. This is bringing a group, if we shoot outside it depends on the sun, we all serve the sun, we can’t control it,” said Sammaria during a press conference for the film Tulang Belulang Tulang at CGV Grand Indonesia, Thursday (19/9).

He added that the shooting location at the cold Lake Toba also surprised them.

“Moreover, Lake Toba is the largest volcanic lake in the world. When it exploded, 60% of the earth was destroyed and we had winter for 6 years, so it was really extraordinary in terms of frequency (cold level). So the vibe was extraordinary,” he continued.

Sammaria also said they were very grateful to be able to shoot at Lake Toba, even though the drone used fell several times and there was a mystical feel to the lake. (Z-1)
