The Soviet masterpiece collected a record box office in the re-hire.
Success in the re-distribution of the film by Sergei Solovyov “Assa” lies in the outrageousness of the picture, the film critic and director believes Alexander Shpagin. In an interview with the PopCornNews portal, he compared the Soviet tape with the Internet shows that recently broke records in terms of views.
“This evil gaiety, this evil release, aggression, mocking attitude to life quite accurately fall on the mind and in many respects correspond to web platforms and modern products and content. The same rap battles. Because this is also done in the style of a plotless evil release, ”explained the expert.
At the same time, Shpagin noted that, having appeared on the screens in 1987, “Assa” failed both in terms of money and in terms of critics’ reviews.
“The film was respectfully scolded, but everyone admitted that it was rather a failure. It was all very new. The painting paved the way for perestroika. It was the first attraction that exploded, like the Aurora salvo that foreshadowed the change. That was the feeling.
The film did not collect at the box office, because it stunned the people a little. The picture turned out to be too arthouse, it had too many bells and whistles, it was plotless for a box office film, ”the filmmaker shared his opinion.
