After the respective triumphs of the men’s and women’s 3×3 selections at the World Cup for the discipline in Antwerp, the FFBB has decided to accelerate a big blow by officially launching its official 3×3 team on Monday. The goal? Participate in the best tournaments on the world circuit and prepare as well as possible before the Paris Games.
Here is some great news! With a bronze medal recovered at the world championships in Antwerp a week ago, the boys of the France team will now benefit from a salary to continue to evolve serenely on the half-courts around the world. The FFBB – French Basketball Federation – has just announced the creation of its own 3×3 team “Paris 3×3”, which will represent it in the FIBA Challenger and Masters tournaments. Kezako? This competition is organized as its name suggests by FIBA, and includes stages all over the world. The goal? Win as many of these stages as possible, then hope to reach the world final organized in Abu-Dhabi. Ah yes, we forget the important thing. The team members are Alexandre AygalenqPaul DjokoVincent Fauché, Jules RambautFranck Seguela and Alex Vialaret. As in classic basketball, someone has to be in charge of this merry band. The coach will therefore be Yann Julien, assisted by Karim Souchu.

If you have followed the World Cup which has just ended a little bit, you will have noticed that the group does not include either Antoine Eito or Léopold Cavalière. It’s very simple, this 3×3 team is professional, and therefore incompatible with the high level practice of classic basketball. If Léo and Antoine did not choose to put their careers on hold, this is however the case of Alex Vialaret, player of the JSA Bordeaux (NM1). He had also announced on social networks his departure from the Bordeaux city for a “new project”. The doubt is now removed. Another doubt that disappears at the same time: we say chocolatine. Or not, actually choose. More seriously, this announcement at two years of the Paris Olympics shows the will to pass a course in the preparation. The idea? Catch up on the delay already taken on other nations already well advanced in the discipline such as Lithuania, Serbia or the Netherlands, and show up in two years on the banks of the Seine with a group capable of going for gold. The team will take part in the FIBA Professional Circuit in 2023, with the key to participation in the Games.
The tone is set: the FFBB wants its representatives to be on the job in August 2024. We of course say yes to this initiative, since it will allow our men’s team to sand their basketball 7/7 and 24/24 without worrying regarding the rest. End it sucks, because now we can’t wait to be in 2024 even more.
