the Federal Council wants to facilitate the construction of wind turbines and hydroelectric installations

The approval procedure for hydroelectric and wind power installations must be faster. The Federal Council put a modification to the law on electricity supply to consultation on Thursday.

Today, building permit procedures are often long for large hydroelectric or wind power installations, estimates the Federal Council. However, such projects are very important for Swiss electricity production.

Simplified procedures

The government therefore proposes to simplify the planning and authorization procedures to which the most important wind and hydropower installations are subject. The project would in no way sacrifice the protection of nature, the environment or monuments.

The Federal Council also wants to give a boost to the development of photovoltaics by authorizing the tax deduction of investments for installations on new constructions. He also wants to simplify obtaining authorization for solar installations on facades.
