On the day of the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, August 28, 2024, a Divine Liturgy was performed in the Academic Church in honor of St. John Damascene of the Holy Intercession Men’s Monastery in Holosiiv, which was led by Archimandrite Markel (Pavuk) in collaboration with academic clergy and students of Kyiv theological schools in the sacred sleigh
Before the start of the service, the Akathist of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was performed. Archimandrite Panteleimon (Melnyk) read the Akathist.
Teachers, students and pupils of Kyiv theological schools, parishioners of the Academic Church and pilgrims of the monastery also prayed during the service.
The service was broadcast on the official channel of KDAiS on Youtube.
Father Markel delivered the sermon after the reading of the Holy Gospel.
During the liturgy, requests were made for peace on the Ukrainian land, for deliverance from the enemy, for the Lord to look down on our people and save those who are in despair and lost their homes, for the Lord to bless people of good will who help the needy.
The liturgical hymns were performed by the academic choir of students of Kyiv theological schools under the leadership of the regent Hieromonk Ioasaf (Mironov).
At the end of the Liturgy, an rite of glorification was performed near the Shroud of the Most Holy Theotokos, after which Archimandrite Markel congratulated the faithful on the feast of the Assumption of the Most Holy Theotokos.
