He provokes, he entices, he warns: The FDP leader is currently omnipresent. He hardly leaves out any topic or medium. What’s bothering him?
BCitizens’ allowance, basic child support, tax relief – these are just three subject areas that Christian Lindner is currently working on. The man with two offices makes new headlines every day. Others go on vacation around Easter, the Federal Finance Minister and FDP chairman does politics: he leaves out no topic, no medium. The liberal is currently omnipresent. He gives interviews to “Zeit”, “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger” and “Rheinische Post”. He talks to the German Press Agency and the “Bild” newspaper. He sends short messages on platform X.
The FDP man ensures a constant flow of news: “There is no additional revenue to be distributed, but now it is regarding consolidation,” he said a week ago with a view to the 2025 budget, in which there is still a gap in the double-digit billions gapes. Shortly followingwards he announced that the early phase-out of coal in 2030 was not a priority. “For me, this is not a date set in stone.” What is more important is that “electricity is available 24 hours, 365 days and 52 weeks a year.” “And at prices that are affordable.” After the lead in the direction of the Greens, the second coalition partner is also getting rid of its fat: “The SPD is constantly demanding more national debt so that it doesn’t have to go to citizens’ money, for example. On the other hand, I recommend an update to citizens’ money because we cannot afford more debt or higher taxes.”
