This mainly concerns users of Apple equipment, such as iPhones, iPads or Macbooks.
When the FBI warns, it’s best to heed it. In early April, the Denver FBI issued a alert to prevent once morest “juice jacking”.
The message is clear : “Avoid using free charging stations in airports, hotels or shopping malls. Malicious actors have found ways to use public USB ports to introduce malware and surveillance software to devices. Bring your own charger and USB cord and use an electrical outlet instead.”

What is “juice jacking”?
You must at all costs avoid plugging in your device, mainly of the Apple brand, either iPhone, iPad or Mac, in a public place such as in hotels and airports for example. Other brands are also affected.
Recharging your laptop in this way might thus present a danger. The USB ports of the sites are thus hijacked by computer hackers with software that subsequently allows them to collect all the data from the equipment that connects to them.
The term of “juice jacking” means this data aspiration.
Use own charger and USB cord
How to avoid getting hacked. It suffices for this touse its own charger and its own USB cord.
And to further ensure the security of its private data, the battery external is still the most effective solution.
