Mrs. Millvina Dean (1912 – 2009) is known as the last survivor of the Titanic sinking disaster. At the time of this terrible tragedy, Mrs. Millvina was only 9 weeks old.When Titanic shipc crashed into an iceberg and sank on April 15, 1912, Mrs. Millvina’s family consisted of 4 people present on that ill-fated ship. While her mother, brother and Mrs. Millvina were lucky to survive, her father was one of more than 1,500 people who died in the sinking of the Titanic.According to Mrs. Millvina, her mother said that the family was not originally on the Titanic. However, because of some problems in the travel schedule, her family bought a ticket for the Titanic to go to the US.After surviving through Titanic sinkingMrs. Millvina and her daughter stayed in the US for a few weeks before boarding the train back to the UK.Millvina said she did not know regarding the sinking of the Titanic until she was eight years old because she was too young when the tragedy happened.After the death of her husband, Millvina’s mother did not want to talk much regarding the Titanic tragedy because the pain of losing a loved one was too great. However, she told her children that her husband saved their lives by quickly bringing the family to a lifeboat when the tragedy happened.Because her father died in a terrible shipwreck, Mrs. Millvina has no memory of him. This made her very sad.Therefore, Mrs. Millvina did not want to see the movie Titanic because she was afraid that watching this movie would remind her of her father who had to spend his last moments on that ill-fated ship.Millvina’s mother and daughter received a lot of attention and help from the media and people in the following years.
