It’s a page that turns. Indeed, the SNCB has decided to destroy the two kiosks on the first floor of the Antwerp-Centraal station, reports GVA. Also, the famous confectionery Panos and Snoeppotteke will disappear.

“I would have liked to stay open a little longer, but now it is no longer necessary for me. I’m done with that, ”admits Evelyne Bomarbaerts. At 61, the owner of the establishment therefore puts the key under the door.

SNCB, for its part, offered a new space for the shop, which Evelyne refused: “A team from SNCB talked regarding the corridor hidden behind my little shop. It would be dirty, even if no one would notice. If you look at the ceiling, you literally see the dirt flowing out”. She does not hide her sadness: “I regret it. In December, I was seriously depressed and cried bitterly. It’s an iconic store, and this forced farewell touches a lot of people. Regular customers are even considering starting a petition, but it makes no sense”. Evelyne will therefore be retiring…
