The First Crime Chamber of Río Cuarto sentenced Ignacio Martín, accused of illegally practicing medicine during the pandemic, to seven years in prison.
Order
The Prosecutor’s Office had requested a sentence of nine years in prison for the doctor de 21 year old accused of falsifying his license plate and who attended during the coronavirus pandemic under the Córdoba Emergency Operations Center (COE).
From the amount of the established sentence, it is clear that the court did not apply the figure of simple homicide due to possible intent, one of the charges that he had to face during the criminal process.
“I want to reiterate the apology that I made at all times during the trial to you, to the complaining party, to society in general. I do not have much more to say”expressed Martín when pronouncing the last words before the sentence was announced.
In addition, the Chamber sent the records to a Córdoba prosecutor’s office to investigate other possible responsibilities. “Ignacio Martín is not a person who was originally from the city of Río Cuarto. “He is not someone who has a habitual residence but rather arrived in a delegation with officials who also do not have a legal residence here,” explained prosecutor Pablo Jávega.
“I understand that the Chamber might have taken this into account and that it would have been in the Capital headquarters where he would have achieved his insertion into the emergency structure, I understand that the referral is due to this, to analyze whether there is any type of criminal responsibility within the structure of officials who made up that emergency committee,” held.

He stole, escaped, overturned and was arrested
When it became known that the accused did not have the title, the health ministry reported that “Having learned on December 22 (2020) that a male person who was volunteering at the Emergency Operations Center (COE) had adulterated documentation in order to carry out the illegal practice of medicine, we proceeded to carry out on the same day the corresponding criminal complaint”.
