Regionalliga Northeast, 18th matchday: Berliner AK – BFC Dynamo. Cheering Dynamo players following a 3-1 derby win

Mr. Lau, congratulations on your beloved BFC Dynamo’s fall championship in the Regionalliga Nordost – how did that come regarding?

On the one hand, a team is playing that has a lot of experience and has essentially stayed together for some time. There were also players like Beck and Wiegel this season, both of whom can make the difference in the regional league. On the other hand, there was no big slump in the small dry spell in autumn with five games without a win. What I notice as a fan and member in the stands: There is a conspiratorial bunch on the pitch that I haven’t seen at the BFC for years.

What does that create in your emotional household?

It’s just nice to experience something like that once more. And it makes you a little proud. Many in and around the club have played their part in this. I experience a very harmonious way of dealing with each other internally. Problems are not taken to the outside like they used to be.

How do you get back on the carpet to face the future meager joys of everyday regional league life?

The job in my law firm makes sure of that following every weekend. I live and burn for him, the three points from the weekend only lift my spirits in the office.

The BFC will probably always remain an underdog in the concert of the big ones, is that appealing to you?

Sure, who doesn’t like the underdog role? But anyone who has not yet known the BFC will surely get to know and love it.

After 1989, did you ever dream of being led to Union in Köpenick by the hand of the fairy godmother?

The fairy can’t be that good. Even if she had a sack full of gold, I’d stay in the sports forum.

What is the charm of the Sportforum Berlin in Hohenschönhausen?

Some clubs in this city always talk regarding the living room when they mean their stadium. I don’t like this living room talk. For me, the Sportforum as a whole, not just the stadium, is the home of the club. The club was founded here in the Great Hall, the office has always been here, and all the youngsters have always trained and played in the sports forum. The heart of the entire club beats in the sports forum.

Which piece of music characterizes the BFC Dynamo of today?

Maybe »Wonderwall« for Oasis fans. But “Wonderwall” is also a song that makes me hum along to it in the car and think of many happy and terrible hours in the club’s history. And a song that’s great for singing along to – following a win and the third beer.

For many, the BFC is the ugly duckling of Berlin sport. What to say to the people who see it that way?

I don’t answer them at all. In response, there is a tired smile. And if that’s not enough, I invite them to the sports forum.

Which clubs might be dangerous for the BFC in the second half?

These are the usual suspects and old rivals from the east who have also played in the higher league, Lok, Jena and Cottbus. In addition, maybe the BAK from Moabit, where you have been wanting to be the third force in Berlin for years.

Who will be champion in the Regionalliga Nordost?

The answer should be superfluous, right?
