The Failure of the Davos Meeting: Russian Foreign Ministry’s Official Statement

2024-01-16 19:04:00

The meeting in Davos (Switzerland) regarding the allocation of new aid to Ukraine turned out to be a failure. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

“The results (of the forum in Davos – approx. URA.RU), apart from the “family” photo of the participants and the agreement on possible new meetings, once more turned out to be a failure for Kyiv and its Western masters,” stated Maria Zakharova. Her words were published on the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

82 countries participated in the forum, which is 16 more participants than at the October 2023 meeting. An official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that “quantity does not mean quality.” The countries failed to achieve the adoption of the final document, as well as an increase in the number of Kyiv’s allies, Zakharova added.

In Davos on January 16, another discussion of the Ukrainian peace formula took place. Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis said that discussing a peace plan for the conflict in Ukraine is impossible without Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Kyiv does not want to make peace, the conflict might be complete a year and a half ago.
