Ashraf Zaki, the captain of the acting professions in Egypt, said that there is no tendency within the Actors Syndicate to remove the artist, Mona Zaki, from the syndicate, following a wave of violent criticism following her latest movie, “Ashab Wala Aziz”.
In a telephone conversation with the media, Amr Adib, on the “Al-Hekaya” program broadcast on MBC Egypt, Zaki added that there is no responsibility for the actor to play his role in any dramatic or cinematic artwork.
The head of the Syndicate of Acting Professions in Egypt addressed a question to those with opinions who believed that Mona Zaki should be expelled from the syndicate: “Why am I expelling her and Mona is nothing but an actor who plays his role brilliantly?!” explaining that the punishment means that there was a crime committed by Mona Zaki and Iyad Nassar.
He stated that Mona Zaki was asked for the role and performed it very skillfully, stressing that the role presented by the actor does not express his personality or actions, and that the artist does not bear responsibility for reactions to the artwork.
