Yesterday, Saturday, Al Bidda Park in Doha witnessed the official opening of the World Cup Fan Festival, where FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced the launch of the festival, wishing the audience to enjoy the activities of the Qatar World Cup.

Infantino said that the tournament represents an occasion for coexistence between peoples to promote the spread of football culture around the world.

In a press conference held in Doha earlier, the FIFA president denounced criticism over the World Cup, which he described as hypocritical moral lessons.

Infantino said, “We have heard many moral lessons from Europeans and from Western countries. I am a European citizen, and I believe that what we Europeans have done over the past 3,000 years we have to apologize for over the next 3,000 years before we give lessons to others.”

At the same time, the FIFA President affirmed Qatar’s full readiness to host the best World Cup, and the readiness of those in charge of the tournament to provide a safe environment for the fans.

He also indicated that Qatar has developed a lot in the field of protecting workers’ rights, and that he was aware of the development achieved by Doha in the field of human rights.
