He shared on social media, “We did well at the beginning, but then it was up and down. The sand was so soft that we crashed several times. it was a massacre and we are happy to be at the finish line.”
Loprais currently trails Macík by 8:54 minutes in the overall standings. Meanwhile, previous leader Mitchel van den Brink of the Netherlands faced significant navigation issues, losing a substantial 79 minutes.

Czech driver Martin Prokop, driving a Ford, faced a tough day, finishing 39:33 minutes behind stage winner Yazid Raji. Prokop, who had been in fourth place, dropped to eleventh overall but remains in contention, admitting, “It was meat and I don’t even remember what happened,” at the finish line.

Early Troubles for Dakar Stalwarts
Day One saw misfortune strike several frontrunners. Rally legend Carlos Sainz sr. suffered a rollover in his Ford, while Sébastien Loeb battled fan problems in his Dacia.
Sainz, visibly disappointed, acknowledged the difficulties: “The summary is simple: everything whent wrong. We had an accident, then we got lost, and this morning we had another puncture. It’s two days that are better to forget, but we have to learn from it and help the team,” he said.Adding to the drama, Nani Roma (Ford) and Cristina Gutiérrez (Dacia) encountered significant challenges on Day Two. Gutiérrez, the rally’s fastest woman thus far, was forced to
withdraw from the stage but will continue the rally with a penalty, showing her commitment to supporting her Dacia teammates.
Sanders Extends Motorcycle Dominance
Meanwhile, Australian rider Toby Price (KTM) continued his impressive performance, extending his lead in the motorcycle category. He beat American Skyler Howes by an impressive 7:37 minutes, now holding a pleasant 12:36 minute lead in the overall standings.
Czech rider Michek sits in fifteenth position, 1 hour and 7 minutes behind Price, while Milan Engel holds steady in twenty-frist, closely followed by fellow Czech Dušan Drdaj.
Lategan and Cummings Lead the Car Charge
The car category saw a commanding performance from Henk Lategan and Brett Cummings, who secured a clear lead with a time of 15:40:30.
The Czech duo of tomáš enge and Vojtěch Moravec trail in second place, 4:45 behind the leaders, while the hungarian pair of Attila Tassi and Gábor Tóth secured third place, 11:14 behind lategan and Cummings.

in the truck category, the Czech duo of Martin Macik and František Tomášek took the lead with a time of 12:10:51. fellow Czech racer Jaroslav Valtr trailed closely in second, just 9:43 behind Macik, while Lithuanian racer Jonas Šimkus finished third, 18:52 behind the leaders.

“It’s an incredible feeling,” Macík shared with Archyde in an exclusive interview. “It was one of the toughest stages I’ve ever faced. The Dakar always pushes you to yoru limits, and this stage was no exception. [it] was so demanding, it felt like two extremely demanding stages in one.”
The nearly 1,000-kilometer stage threw relentless terrain at the competitors, with soft sand proving particularly challenging. Macík and his team battled through several crashes, pushing their truck and themselves to the absolute limit.
“There were moments when I thought we might not make it to the finish line,” Macík confessed. “It was a real battle—mentally and physically.”

Despite facing a 100-second time penalty, Macík and his team refused to be deterred.They remained focused,maintaining their rhythm and pushing hard to claw back lost time.
“penalties are part of the game in the Dakar,” Macík explained.“We knew we had to stay focused and not let it affect our rhythm. The team did an amazing job keeping the truck in top condition, and we pushed even harder to make up for the lost time.”

With compatriot Aleš Loprais hot on his heels in the standings, Macík relishes the strong Czech presence at the top of the truck classification.
“It’s fantastic to see Aleš doing so well. We’ve been rivals for years, but there’s also a lot of mutual respect,” Macík said. “Competing against someone of his caliber pushes me to be better. It’s great for Czech motorsport to have both of us fighting for the top spots.”

“Every second counts in this race,” he emphasized. “We’ll continue to push hard, but we also need to be smart and make sure we’re in a good position to capitalize on any opportunities that come our way.”

Martin Macík: Thank you! It’s an incredible feeling, honestly. This stage was one of the toughest I’ve ever faced in my career. The Dakar Rally always pushes you to your limits, but this one felt like two extremely demanding stages rolled into one. To come out on top after such a battle is truly special.
Archyde: You mentioned that the stage was incredibly challenging. Can you tell us more about the specific difficulties you encountered?
macík: Absolutely.The terrain was relentless—nearly 1,000 kilometers of some of the most punishing conditions I’ve ever seen. The soft sand was especially tricky. We crashed several times, and there were moments when I wasn’t sure if we’d make it to the finish line. It was a real test of endurance, not just for the truck but for the entire team.
Archyde: You also incurred a 100-second time penalty during the stage. How did that affect your strategy and mindset?
macík: It was definitely a setback, but in a race like the Dakar, you have to expect the unexpected. We knew we couldn’t let it shake our focus.Rather, we doubled down and pushed even harder.The team did an amazing job keeping everything together, and we managed to stay competitive despite the penalty.
Archyde: Your compatriot, aleš Loprais, is close behind you in the standings. How does it feel to have such strong competition from a fellow Czech racer?
Macík: Aleš is an incredible competitor,and it’s always exciting to race against him. Having another Czech driver so close in the standings adds an extra layer of motivation. It’s great for Czech motorsport and shows the strength of our team and our country in this rally.
Archyde: Looking ahead, what’s your strategy for the remaining stages of the Dakar Rally?
Macík: The key is to stay focused and take it one stage at a time. The Dakar is unpredictable, and anything can happen. We’ll continue to push hard, but we also need to be smart and avoid unnecessary risks. The goal is to keep the truck in good condition and maintain our position at the front.
