A club cannot burn the millions more bitterly and quickly…
The commitment of an ex-national player turns out to be one of the most expensive misunderstandings in the club’s history for Borussia Dortmund and is becoming more and more of a nuisance.
The main thing is that he changes – BVB doesn’t want a cent for this star.
Nico Schulz (30/contract until 2024) switched from Hoffenheim to BVB in 2019 for a proud transfer fee of 25.5 million euros.
Born in Berlin, he came with great hopes of establishing himself as a long-term left-back and should make his mark on the game with his speed and crosses – but the bitter reality is different:
In almost four years he only played 61 games for the black and yellow, scored a measly goal and provided 3 templates.
With an annual salary of almost 6 million euros, Schulz is one of the better earners.
Schulz played his last Bundesliga game for the Pott-Klub on matchday 33 of the 2021/22 season. More than a year ago (May 7, 2022) he came on as a substitute in the 3-1 win in Greuther Fürth and prepared the 3-1.
In the meantime, the 12-time national player has smashed his market value from 25 million euros (peak in 2019) to just 2 million euros (currently), and the trend is still falling!
In the past winter break, a move to Lazio Rome failed, although BVB would have been willing to pay part of his salary.
At the latest in the summer break, BVB will start a new attempt to finally get Schulz even.
Borussia might even be willing to let his full flop go on a free transfer to finally get him off the payroll.
► Schulz had also made negative headlines off the pitch: a friend had filed a criminal complaint once morest him for domestic violence last summer. The public prosecutor’s office is still investigating, Schulz rejects the allegations….
