Erling Haaland crushed Roméo Lavia’s Southampton almost single-handedly this Saturday night (1-4).
It was a happy Pep Guardiola who appeared to the press after his team’s display against Southampton.
In comments relayed by The team, he did not go there by four paths when he was asked about Erling Haaland, still author of a double this Saturday. The Spanish tactician did not hesitate to compare him to the two aliens, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
“If you look at the number of matches Erling Haaland has played in his professional career, and you compare the goals he has scored in the same number of matches, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are tied at the highest level, in terms of goals scored,” Guardiola said.
“Erling knows that these two guys dominated for two decades. Not just a year or two. They scored goals, won titles and did absolutely everything they could. I think football has improved, mainly thanks to Cristiano and Messi. Erling is only 22 years old and arrives in the toughest league in the world. What he achieves is remarkable.”
