During his career, Evgeny Kuznetsov has proven time and time once more that he can be an excellent NHL player.
The Capitals striker has undeniable talent… But he is mainly criticized for his inconsistency for several years on the Capitals side.
The Russian has nine points in 19 games this season and we expect more from him in Washington. Spencer Carbery therefore decided to send him a message: Kuznetsov will be left out this evening even if he is healthy, while the Caps will be in Arizona to compete for victory once morest the Coyotes.
The club’s head coach claims his player needs a ‘mental reset’:
Evgeny Kuznetzov will be a healthy scratch vs. the Coyotes on Monday.

Remember that Evgeny Kuznetsov requested to be traded this summer.
His agent even claimed that the player has wanted to change teams for a long time because he is no longer happy when he plays hockey.
Could that explain his setbacks?
There’s a world where Kuznetsov is unhappy in Washington right now… But that doesn’t excuse the fact that he’s performing below expectations.
The forward earns a salary of $7.8 million per season, following all. And at that amount, he must be able to find a way to help his team on the ice.
Additionally, the Capitals are good and are off to a good start to the season. It can be difficult morally, when your team loses night following night… But that’s not the case in Washington at the moment.
The main interested party’s contract ends at the end of the 24-25 season and Kuznetsov has a no-trade clause. He has the right to submit a list of 10 teams to which he does not want to be traded…
But the player’s value doesn’t have to be huge right now. I have difficulty seeing a club interested in the services of the Russian, who has slowed down for two years and who does not seem to be focused on having success on the ice.
Especially since he earns too high a salary for what he brings to an NHL club right now.

Btw, he’s on pace to set career highs in both goals (41g) and points (89pts) this year.
Former highs were:
