Lots of light and lots of shadows right at the beginning of the year!

For the first time since the beginning of the corona pandemic, the turn of the year was celebrated once more at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. Millions of people in Germany toasted to welcome 2023. In Hamburg, several thousand people watched the New Year’s fireworks at the Landungsbrücken.

Unfortunately, the New Year’s Eve celebrations were not always peaceful. Across the country, emergency services had a lot to do. There were sometimes serious accidents on the roads, fires had to be extinguished and many injured people had to be treated. A woman was killed in Düsseldorf in the evening.

BILD observed the events of New Year’s Eve for you and edited them for you in the ticker.

Krass: One of the perpetrators fled in a car, one went to a pub and celebrated a New Year’s Eve party, where he and another suspect were arrested.

Because a crime knife may have been hidden in a mailbox, the officers are checking the container. The background to the fact is still unclear.
