The European Football Association (Wifa) has pledged to “compensate” 2,700 ticket holders who were “deprived” of the opportunity to watch the Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid, according to what the French Sports Minister announced on Monday.

The final, which was held at the Stade de France stadium in the outskirts of Paris, on Saturday, was delayed by 36 minutes, due to tensions outside the stadium, and the attempt of many fans to climb the fence gates and enter by force, which led to the police confronting them and firing tear gas in some times.

“We asked UEFA, who agreed with us, that these people be identified accurately and that they receive immediate compensation because of the frustration they have experienced,” Sports Minister Amelie Odea-Castera said at a press conference.

And it reported that 2,700 “unactivated” tickets belong to a group of people who bought tickets and were “deprived” of watching the match that Real Madrid won 1-0, and consolidated its record by achieving its 14th title.
