The European Commission and Moderna reached an agreement on Tuesday to deliver 15 million doses of vaccine once morest the Omicron variant, according to a press release from the European Union.

Thus, the commission now reserves 15 million doses of Moderna’s modified vaccines for the Omicron variant for “the summer and winter period”.

“This will allow national authorities to have access to vaccines, including variant-adapted vaccines if authorized, when they need them for their own vaccination campaigns and to support their global partners”, further specifies the communicated.

Adding that “the contractual delivery times initially agreed” can be adapted according to needs, the commission specifies that the first deliveries are expected for September and the following in autumn and winter 2022.
