The Gironde National Rally made its political return this Saturday, September 30 in Saint-Laurent-Médoc, in the presence of its two Gironde deputies, Edwige Diaz and Grégoire de Fournas, but also of Sébastien Chenu, vice-president of the National Assembly. 250 activists traveled to launch the campaign for the European elections in June 2024, which the far-right party has made its priority objective.

A paradox, for a party which never ceases to vilify the European Union? Not from the point of view of Jimmy Bourlieux, departmental delegate of the RN in Gironde. “These elections are major for us,” he explains, “they are the only ones that have a national dimension before the 2027 presidential election. It is an important deadline to sanction Emmanuel Macron and his policies, and to prepare for the post-Macron era.” . The list that comes out on top will be well positioned for 2027. Sébastien Chenu told us that we must win this election, and as widely as possible. We can feel European while having a critical vision of European institutions. People can feel European without being ‘eurogagas’. We have proposals to make on Europe. »

“An enemy: abstention”

During these next nine months, the RN wants to carry out a major field campaign in Gironde. In its bastions (both banks of the estuary) but also in South-Gironde, in the Bordeaux metropolitan area or even in the Arcachon basin. “To win in 2027, we will need to strengthen ourselves in big cities. In fact, we have to go everywhere,” emphasizes Jimmy Bourlieux. This campaign will have to mobilize people, because, believes Grégoire de Fournas, “we have two adversaries, Emmanuel Macron and the technocrats of Brussels, but one enemy: abstention”. Main objective in Gironde: “To succeed for the first time in being in the lead in the European elections, following 2019 when we were only two points behind the Macronist candidate. There we want to be in front,” announces the departmental delegate.
