The Euro-Mediterranean Monitor calls for urgent international action after revealing “horrific” details about mass graves in Gaza.

Gaza – The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor called for urgent international action regarding the mass graves in Gaza, stressing that “the bodies recovered were decomposed, some of them in pieces, following being run over by the tracks of Israeli bulldozers.”

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Observatory explained in a report that “the bodies of the victims that were recovered were decomposed, some of which were body parts and torn bodies, and others were decapitated following being crushed and run over by Israeli bulldozers.”

The Observatory revealed that “Euro-Med field teams continued to exhume dozens of victims from the mass graves in the Shifa complex and inspected the exhumation of the bodies of handcuffed victims and others who were wounded and were not provided with health care and were executed.”

He added: “We documented the exhumation of the bodies of some patients, as evidenced by the presence of urinary catheters and splints that were still attached to their bodies at the time of their exhumation, in addition to the presence of medical files for the wounded and sick who were buried with them and extracted from two pits in the Al-Shifa Complex.”

He stressed that “the majority of the recovered bodies had also undergone decomposition as a result of the long period, and some of them had clearly been mauled by cats and dogs, following Israeli forces had hindered their recovery over the past months.”

He added: “Thousands of destroyed homes in multi-storey buildings have also turned into mass graves for their residents because they are still unable to be recovered, either due to the lack of mechanical capabilities to remove the rubble, or because these buildings are in areas of Israeli army operations.”

He also stated: “Our estimates indicate that there are more than 13,000 Palestinians missing under the rubble, or killed in random mass graves, or forcibly disappeared in Israeli prisons and detention centers, and some of them were killed inside them.”

The Euro-Mediterranean Observatory said, “The repeated recovery of hundreds of bodies of martyrs from mass graves in Gaza Strip hospitals is horrifying, requiring urgent international action to investigate the circumstances of the establishment of these graves and the circumstances of the martyrdom of the victims who were buried in them.”

The Palestinian Civil Defense team continues to recover bodies from a mass grave outside the Nasser Hospital complex in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area.
