The President of the European Council, Charles Michel rolled out the red carpet on Tuesday to the President of the Gabonese Transition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema on a working and friendship visit to Belgium where he arrived yesterday Monday.
The discussions between the two personalities were mainly focused on deepening cooperation ties between Gabon and the European institution. Progress in the transition process in Gabon, particularly those relating to the organization of the referendum, were also discussed during this meeting.
Furthermore, the Head of State had a working session with the authorities of the European Commission. Session which resulted in the signing of a partnership for forests. Indeed, Gabon and the EU are committed to sustainable forest management, an area in which Libreville remains a pioneer.
In addition, the two parties also signed partnerships in the fields of economy and transport, including a declaration for the award of a subsidy to the Transgabonais upgrading program.
The signing of these agreements by the Gabonese State demonstrates the desire of the highest Gabonese authorities to work for the development of Gabon through transformative investments.
