The start of the school of the arts of the community of communes began last Monday with varied and even more numerous activities. Jane Labatut, the director, was present at the festivals of the Montreal associations on September 2 and Bram last Saturday. Many visitors went to meet him in search of information on the workshops offered.
And there are a multitude of them: “There are the usual disciplines that we have offered since the creation of the school with learning the basics of music theory, awareness and musical initiation where we welcome children from the age of 4 years, individual lessons for all instruments (trumpet, flute, clarinet, guitar, piano, violin, drums, etc.), an adult choir, two wind orchestras and a string orchestra. And then those who have arrived more recently such as batucada, theater with two workshops for young people from 9 years old to 18 years old on Mondays, and a third for adults and also classical dance,” she explains.

But there are also two new features for this school year: the diatonic accordion and the opening of a photo workshop. “We have had a lot of visitors who seem very interested in these two activities, particularly photography, this was a high expectation among elected officials during meetings with citizens. We approached the education association at “image, the Graph-CMi, in Carcassonne, to set up a partnership agreement. Most of the workshops take place in the school building in Bram, the photo media library, and in Montreal (batucada). Membership fees are €77 to €308 depending on income.
