An explosion occurred yesterday in a Chinese fishing vessel, called Lu Jao 106, this Thursday around 10 a.m. at the Autonomous Port of Dakar.
Two Chinese people were burned to death in the explosion of a ship yesterday around 9 a.m. at Mole 10 of the Port of Dakar. The boat belongs to the company Afro Pêche. The freon tank exploded during the repair of the shipowner’s boat.

At the origin of the drama? Freon, this polluting gas banned because of its effects on global warming. The tank exploded when the shipowner was carrying out repairs on the boat, OBS sources report.
Indeed, for several years, fishing boats have set their sights on freon to the detriment of ammonia for freezing fish on the open sea. And, it was around 9:10 a.m. that an explosion followed by a fire on board a ship was reported to Môle 10 of the Port of Dakar.

Two Chinese crew members died. The fire was brought under control by firefighters, who quickly rushed to the scene. The fire did not spread outside the ship. The remains were transferred to the Main Hospital in Dakar.
