The Enthusiastic Fandom and Anticipation Surrounding Indochina’s Ronquières Festival Performance

THE rendezvous of this Ronquières Festival is scheduled for 10 p.m. It is of course the arrival of Indochina that will attract the 28,000 festival-goers to the festival’s new stage: La Colline. It is therefore in many hours that the concert of the main headliner of the festival will take place. Still, fans are already gathered around the stage ready to wait for their favorite band. We went to meet them.

While the festival organizers were meeting festival-goers at 2:50 p.m. on the Tribord stage to experience the first concert of the day, many visitors rushed a few meters away, around the new festival stage. A scene as funny as it is unprecedented due to the arrival of Indochina. “We came only to see Indochina. From this morning, we have prepared everything to be among the first to go around the stage,” says Samuel, a festival-goer who came especially to the Ronquières Festival to attend the Indochine concert.

You don’t have to be a concert specialist to see the Indochina fans who ran through the festival site to position themselves in the front row. A fanaticism that not all festival-goers understand. “I saw them running past me when the festival had just opened. I know they’re there for Indochina but I don’t really understand why they’re rushing so much”, wonders Ludovic.

A passion that only fans can explain. “We have been fans of Indochina for several generations. Their presence on stage, their music, the lyrics, everything is perfect with them. We have obviously already seen them in concert but when the group comes to Belgium, we take the opportunity directly to go see them once more. We had to be in the front row,” says Muriel, who came with her family to see Indochina.
