While we saw him as a guest of honor (and killer robot) at last year’s Devolver Direct, the work of Goichi Suda (better known as Suda51) has been something of a mystery since Grasshopper Manufacturing was acquired by NetEase Games.
The creator of the No More Heroes series appeared last night during Grasshopper Direct 2023, the studio’s first online event and a celebration of its 25 years in business. We don’t know exactly what they’re doing because despite all his previous projects, it’s only in the last few seconds of the video (you’re below, it’s quite an experience) that Suda51 admits he’s on the TV screen What they have is their new game. But no title, no synopsis, nothing.
At least it’s nice to know the team still has some work to do, and they have a special sense of humor in their presentations. We’ll keep an eye out for more news from Grasshopper in the future.
