The Desouq Petroleum Company (Desoco) operates the Desouq gas project; It is a joint venture between Wintershall Dea and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS).
It is noteworthy that Wintershall Dea began drilling in eastern Damanhur in November 2021. The new discovery is the second exploration well in this license. Well ED-2X is located regarding three kilometers north of the existing Disouq field. The well intercepted a 43-meter-thick gas reservoir, where the gas touches the surface of the water at an altitude of 2,627 meters. On the other hand, a comprehensive and appropriate program was implemented in order to obtain data on the well, and the amount of production from this discovery was also tested, as it reached its peak of 15 million standard cubic feet per day.
