Faced with rising energy prices, the government had promised several financial boosts to reduce household bills: reduction from 21% to 6% of VAT on gas and electricity, extended social tariff and check for €100 on the electricity bill. This last measure comes into force this week and benefits the consumer: there is no procedure to take.
All Belgian households will see these 100 euros deducted directly from their bill. For example, if you pay a deposit of 150 euros, you will only pay 50.
If your deposit is below 100 euros, you will pay nothing the first month and the rest of this check will be deducted the following month.
Also note: if you have a standing order, the amount will be returned to you.
Automatic check, but maybe not for now
Most households should benefit from this check before July 31, so be patient.
