Bpost recently sold its last yellow postcard. Postage-paid cards, once popular for televised competitions, are no longer printed. According to the postal company, postcards have become obsolete in the digital age.
Today, those who enter a contest on radio or television usually do so through a website or app. Before the internet became ubiquitous, this was often done with a yellow postcard. These cards were pre-stamped, making the envelope and stamp unnecessary.
Although they are little used, bpost continued to sell these cards for a long time via its online store. But they are now sold out. “We have exhausted our stock and there will be no more new ones,” says spokesperson Veerle Van Mierlo. However, those who still have yellow postcards can still use them.
