Riyadh: The city of Twaif from Saudi Arabia in the network of UNESCO Creative Cities (Creative Cities). Saudi Minister of Culture Amira Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan informed regarding this through ‘X’ post. The culture minister said that Twaif, the land of poetry and literature, and Ukkad ancient market have been included in the list of UNESCO creative cities.
UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay announced the designation of 55 cities as creative cities. Twaif is one of those towns. These cities stand out because of the place given to culture and creativity in their development strategies and innovative practices. This brings the number of cities that are members of the UNESCO Creative Network to 350. Iowa cities are spread across more than 100 countries. Creative sector includes seven creative fields namely handicrafts, folk arts, digital arts, design, cinema and culinary arts.

A city rich in literature since Souq Uqad is rich in its present, names and inspiring constructions, said Badr Al-Azakar, a member of the board of directors of Amir Mohammed bin Salman ‘MISK’ Foundation, on the occasion of the inclusion of Twaif in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Amir Saud bin Nahar bin Saud, governor of Twaif, said that Twaif’s entry into the UNESCO Creative Cities Network is a crowning achievement in the history of literature and culture that its people have lived for thousands of years. The governor also said that he would like to thank the Minister of Culture for his support in making Twaif the capital of Arab poetry.
