“This medal is dedicated to heaven”: The emotional words of Adriana Ruano’s mother
The mother of Guatemala’s first gold medalist, Adriana Ruano, dedicated the medal to the athlete’s father.

The national shooter managed to frame her name and that of Guatemala in the history of the Olympic Games, winning the first gold medal for the country and also becoming the first female Olympic medalist.
Adriana Ruano’s family made the trip to Paris and accompanied the athlete during the competition in her golden conquest.
Ruano qualified for the Olympics by winning the gold medal at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games; It was not the first gold medal that he celebrated with his family.
The mother, Yany Oliva, after her daughter’s achievement confessed: “It is a great gift from God, and of course it is dedicated to heaven, To my husband who always supported her and loved us so much.”
While celebrating, Adriana proudly and emotionally showed a photograph of her fathersadly passed away in 2021 and in Ruano he transcended during his life and was remembered at the most important moment of his sporting career.
Also, Yany Oliva said with much affection that her daughter is the “star” of her lifetotal emotion of the family who shared an emotional moment after having won the gold medal.
The shooter continued her success for Guatemala in the discipline after her partner, Jean Pierre Brol, won the bronze medal in the same event but in the men’s category on Monday, July 30.
