As every year, the Professional Council of Economic Sciences of Córdoba holds its traditional “Graduate Week”. In the ceremony, medals are delivered to those enrolled who celebrate 25 and 50 years in the profession.
This year, the celebration was held at the City of Arts, where there were tributes to professionals (a long list of accountants), and various speeches to highlight the importance of the task carried out.
On the occasion, the president of the CPCE, Teresita Bersano, and the head of the Social Security Fund, Guillermo Filippelli, spoke. And also the accountant María Higinia García, for the professionals who celebrated their silver wedding anniversary.
The most emotional, fun and profound moment came when the accountant José María Farré made his speech for those who celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
The renowned tax official, following thanking family members, professionals and those “who are no longer here”, gave a speech that received all the applause from those present.
Farre, born in Mendoza, has been in Córdoba for 54 years. In his speech, he explained the importance of his parents, teachers and colleagues in the profession.
In addition, he revealed that he had completed a secondary school as a bachelor, and that he had never seen accounting before his university decision. “But my dad wanted to diversify,” he said.
He also thanked the “clients” of the accountants, which he divided into two classes: “the toxic” and “the non-toxic”.
“The toxic ones are the ones that, thanks to them, the psychologists, the psychiatrists fill their wallets… Because our profession is crazy. I always say that the State, which subsidizes so many things, should subsidize us. Because we help him collect, we get sick and we have to go to the psychologist… who doesn’t care for mutual, ”he described, amidst the laughter of those present.
In addition, he reviewed the changes that had occurred between the day he turned 25 as a professional, in 1998. “That year, there were only 6 accountants who turned 50… Today, we see 80. Something is wrong: or more accountants entered , or we are better fed, or there is less toxicity”, he reflected.
Farré also remarked that his was the only generation that had lived half their profession in the 20th century and the other in the 21st. “That difference is not non-significant. Because in the last century, with 20 years of profession, we went to the DGI, Minim attended us and they told us that the Affidavit was wrong… And April 20 was sacred. It was the paper, the carbon, it was Holy Week that might not be enjoyed because the affidavits expired, ”he explained.
“The change and speed between the centuries that we have experienced is brutal. In our case, the first computer we had in the studio was in 1984. A big device, with a yellow screen… Today, with a cell phone we solve all the problems”, he affirmed.

Farré was a professor at the Faculty of Economic Sciences. “Do you know how many students passed through the Tax department from 1973 until I retired, two years ago? 37,000 meters…”, said the tax official. “This task is also to give thanks, these young people give us feedback.”
And regarding what has happened in recent years, and the changes, Farré made an impressive calculation. “Do you know how many regulations issued, before the DGI and today Afip, from 1973 to last week? 8,000. Do you know how many working days there have been in the last 50 years of the profession? 10,000. In other words, we have almost one resolution per business day. And we accountants had to study them”, reviewed Farré.
