The emergency room of the Montreal Heart Institute is moving

The emergency department of the Montreal Heart Institute (MHI) will move to more modern premises on Saturday, March 11.

To make a “smooth” transition, the ICM asks the population to avoid going to the emergency room on Saturday March 11 and Sunday March 12.

These emergency modernization works are part of the “Investing in Excellence (IDE)” expansion and modernization project, the second phase of which was set in motion in 2016.

“This modernization will support our level of excellence in terms of care, prevention, teaching and research,” the ICM told QMI Agency.

New ambulatory center, underground parking, state-of-the-art training center, modernization of emergency and critical care units are some of the aspects of the IDE project.

The ICM is affiliated with the University of Montreal and has more than 2,000 employees, including 245 doctors and more than 85 researchers.

If necessary, the population is invited to:

  • call 911 for any emergency;
  • call Info Santé at 811 in the event of a non-emergency health problem.
