The electric Volvo XC40 breaks a range record with the ecological bonus

The basic version of the XC40 now receives a large battery and announces a WLTP combined cycle range of 573 km.

At the beginning of the year, Volvo reviewed the range of 100% electric XC40 and C40. The big news was the arrival of an Extended Range version, with a larger 82 kWh battery, compared to 69 kWh for the basic configuration.

What logically announce much better autonomy. But these were estimates at the time. Volvo has since carried out the official homologation with the WLTP measurement cycle. With good news at the key: even higher final figures.

Thus, with the 82 kWh battery, the XC40 Recharge has an “official” WLTP range of 573 km, compared to 512 km initially announced! This version receives a single engine, 252 hp. The four-wheel-drive Twin version (408 hp) also has the 82 kWh battery, and its range is finally 537 km, instead of 500 km.

The C40 takes advantage of its aerodynamic silhouette to do even better. The Extended Range thus has an approved autonomy of 582 km, against 533 km declared in January. For the Twin, it’s 550 km instead of 507.

Volvo did not take advantage of these higher values to reprice. Which makes the XC40 of particular interest. Its Extended Range version is offered with a basic Essential version, on which a small discount is applied. Its goal ? Have a price of €46,990 and allow the vehicle to enter the €5,000 bonus zone.

This XC40 thus becomes the “bonus” model with the best autonomy on the market, 573 km therefore. It thus beats the Cupra Born VZ battery XL and its 550 km and does much better than the Tesla Model Y and its 455 km.
