Municipalities, counties, and city councils held elections for chairpersons and vice-speakers today. The Kuomintang won a total of 15 chairperson seats and 14 vice-chairman seats. The KMT issued a press release stating that it is gratified for the unity of party members in all parliaments and their joint support for the candidates proposed by the Kuomintang. Letting the Kuomintang maintain a majority of chairpersons and deputy speakers is not only the affirmation of public opinion, but also the beginning of responsibility.

The KMT pointed out that it is hoped that the elected chairpersons and deputy speakers of all parties will uphold the responsibility of supervising local government affairs, strive for the well-being of the village, demonstrate the KMT’s concept of working hard for the people, and win more public approval.

In the elections of the chairman and deputy speakers in Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Keelung City, and Hualien County, there were party members who ran votes. It is stipulated that follow-up examination and discipline work shall be carried out.

The KMT pointed out that although the elections for the chairmen and vice-speakers of various parliaments across the country were over, incidents of intimidation of Tainan city councilors were reported before the election. There are many shadows in the election of the chairman and deputy speaker in Tainan. If even the councilors may be detained and threatened, how should ordinary citizens face the coercion of the gangsters? I request the investigation and investigation unit to find out the truth of the incident as soon as possible and severely punish illegal acts. The election is over and blurred.

The Kuomintang stated that living and working in peace should be the most basic requirement. However, under the long-term rule of the DPP in Tainan, even the congressmen will be intimidated. The ruling party should return the citizens of Tainan to a safe and secure living environment that is not threatened by gangsters.
