Par L’Union
The nice gesture was first told on social networks in a Facebook group by a surfer. Witness of the scene, she wanted to make public “this wonderful life lesson”.
Our French colleagues from L’Union then invited the “super miss” to contact them, to put her in the spotlight. And the girl quickly answered them. But she wants to remain anonymous “otherwise it would ruin everything”.
“I don’t need recognition. I didn’t do it for that! »
Jessica (assumed first name) was embarrassed that her “small gesture” took “all this magnitude”. “I don’t need recognition. I didn’t do it for that! “, she insisted on specifying in the preamble. “If I answered your call, it was to bring my testimony, but I prefer to remain discreet. »
“I was very flattered to be called a young lady, but hey, I’m 38 anyway,” she laughs.
This Monday, she just needed a salad. “I was queuing and I started to hear the cashier say that the lady only had one more try to code her credit card. Obviously, the last attempt failed. “I understood that there was a problem. The lady and her husband, who must have been 75 or 80, looked lost. They didn’t quite understand what was happening to them. They were ready to go and put their items back on the shelves…”
This is where Jessica offered to pay, without even knowing the volume of the couple’s shopping. “The lady was amazed. She immediately asked me for my phone number so she might reimburse me, but I refused. Suddenly, she told me that I was super nice and she kissed me! »
“The cashier also thanked me and the other customers in line congratulated me”
The scene only lasted a few minutes. “The cashier also thanked me and the other customers in line congratulated me. Some said it was amazing what I had done and that it gave them faith in humanity. But it was impossible not to react. It’s just human what I did. I have a lot of respect for the elders. I don’t feel like I did anything extraordinary. Especially since it was not an exorbitant sum. It was for just under €20. And if it ever happens to me, I hope someone will be there to help me too. »
This is the first time that Jessica is confronted with this kind of situation. But if we are to believe the nickname given to her by her family, Jessica is the generous type. “They call me Mother Theresa. My husband always says: with you, we will never be rich! »
She still says that when she got home, she felt “really good to have done it”: “We think we make people happy, but in fact we make ourselves just as much fun. On social networks, the praise for her has multiplied. “I am very surprised and very touched at the same time. I have my reward! »
