The Torremolinos City Council has approved this Friday in full, and unanimously, the change of name of the Early Childhood and Primary Education Center (CEIP) El Pinillo by Maestra Virginia Gaitánwho was its director, who died just a few days ago, as reported by the Consistory.
The teacher Virginia Gaitán Olmo wore more than a decade as a teacher in this centerwhere throughout her career she has held various positions, having served as director in recent years.
As explained by the mayoress, Margarita del Cid, “this City Council is aware that the involvement and dedication with which he has always carried out his duties It has led her to earn the love and admiration of the entire educational community, and she has far exceeded what would correspond to her work as a teacher”.
For this reason, it has highlighted that “it is considered that the promoted proposal, already approved by the School Council, It is fair and deserved, and we want to join the unanimous will of that body, supporting the initiative to change the current name of the center to CEIP Maestra Virginia Gaitán”.
Del Cid has also said that “Virginia is a example of commitment and involvement not only with the educational community of Torremolinos, but with the city as a whole”, for which reason “it deserves that one of our centers bear his name”. The change of name of the center of Torremolinos will now be transferred to the Ministry of Education of the Junta de Andalucía.
