4,700 children with autism who are enrolled in Moroccan public schools, according to data from the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports.

In this sense, the inclusive education program launched in 2019, supposed to cover all schools in the Kingdom by 2028, has made it possible, according to Chakib Benmoussa’s department, to benefit a total of 4,700 autistic students, including 1,100 are girls.

Nevertheless, efforts are still needed to reduce the increasingly glaring gap in the number of children enrolled at the college and high school level. In reality, only 300 autistic children continue their studies in college and high school. A reality of which the guardianship seems aware and which it intends to surpass through the expansion of the network of public schools dedicated to inclusive education. “We are working with our partners to expand this offer in all regions of the Kingdom to meet the needs of these children,” said the minister.
