Six days have passed since the start of the campaign to end violence once morest women, which is scheduled to end on December 10, according to what was approved by the United Nations, to educate women around the world and support them psychologically.
In this regard, Dr. Laila Ragab, a mental and family health consultant, said that many girls and women are exposed to all forms of violence, whether verbally, physically or psychologically, by the family, life partner or employer.

Effects of violence once morest women on their mental health
Ragab added that the violence to which women are exposed primarily affects their mental health, as it increases their risk of developing the following disorders:
Anxiety: A woman who has been subjected to one form of violence is usually more concerned regarding her dealings with others, for fear that she will go through the same bad experience once more, so she tends to be socially isolated.

Depression: The state of sadness and anger that a woman possesses due to cases of violence may develop into depression, and its severity depends on the extent to which bad experiences affect her mental health.

Post-traumatic stress disorder: a mental illness whose symptoms appear on a woman when she is exposed to events similar to the stressful experiences she went through in the past, which negatively affects her mental health.

Effects of violence once morest women on their physical health
She emphasized that psychological disorders resulting from violence have negative effects on physical health, as they affect women with a number of diseases, most notably:
Chronic headache.
Fibromyalgia.
Autoimmune diseases, such as lupus erythematosus.

She explained that supporting battered women begins with educating them regarding the health risks that they may be exposed to as a result of violence, and providing safe shelters and psychological care centers, with the need to educate community members regarding the importance of stopping the oppression of women.
The mental health consultant concluded her speech by recommending that women, when exposed to violence, follow a set of guidelines, including:
– Asking for help from trusted people.
– Communicating with agencies and bodies that combat violence once morest women.
– Reaching out to specialized psychological support sources.
– Follow a healthy diet, to reduce the physical and psychological damage from violence.
