Many people prefer to sleep immediately following eating breakfast in Ramadan, due to the feeling of lethargy, fatigue, and extreme sleepiness following eating, without realizing the health risks involved in this matter.

Dr. Muhammad Al-Manisi, Consultant Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, said that going to sleep immediately following eating breakfast, without any time breaks, causes severe digestive damage, which is:

Ad space

heartburn

Reflux in the esophagus.

– acidity

– Slow fat burning rate.

– overweight.

Al-Manisi advised not to go to sleep immediately following eating breakfast to avoid acidity, noting that if it occurs, then whoever suffers from these symptoms should take antacid medications and effervescents, provided that he consults a specialized doctor to prescribe the best type that is in line with his health condition.

How to avoid heartburn

Dr. Marwa Mohamed, a clinical nutritionist, explained the need to avoid going to sleep following eating for at least two hours, so that the digestive system can digest food.

The clinical nutritionist gave several tips when going to breakfast to prepare the stomach to enter the food, so as not to cause any shock to it, which are as follows:

Drink a glass of lukewarm water.

Eat 1 to 3 dates.

– Performing Maghrib prayer in order to prepare the stomach before eating.

– Avoid taking painkillers.

– Avoid eating fried foods.

Eat bread made from apostasy, not from white flour.

– Avoid smoking immediately following breakfast.

– Stay away from drinking coffee and caffeine following breakfast, because acidity and heartburn do not occur.
