The mediator of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) for Burkina Faso, Mahamadou Issoufou, who arrived Friday followingnoon in Ouagadougou, began consultations with Burkinabè political actors, it was reported. learned from official sources.
Present in Ouagadougou as part of the assessment of the situation before the ECOWAS summit to be held in Accra on July 3, Issoufou had a working session with Prime Minister Albert Ouédraogo, according to a press release from the Primature.
Several points were on the agenda of this tete-a-tete between the two officials. These include, among other things, the duration of the transition, the examination of the timetable and the monitoring and evaluation mechanism, specifies the Primature.
“During these meetings, Albert Ouédraogo reaffirmed the government’s readiness to work to find a dynamic compromise with the regional organization,” reads the press release.
Issoufou will also have audiences with the political class, customary and religious authorities and the permanent secretary of La Francophonie.
A meeting with the President of Burkina Faso, Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, on Saturday July 2, 2022, is also scheduled in the agenda of the ECOWAS facilitator.
