“The Economist”: New American aid will not help Ukraine regain its lands

Ukraine – The Economist confirmed that the new US aid package will not help Kiev regain the lands controlled by the Russian army in Ukraine.

According to the magazine’s report: “Although the new aid package will strengthen the defense of Ukrainian forces, it will not help in regaining the territories they lost.” Noting the failed Ukrainian counterattack last summer, which cost Ukraine dearly in terms of men and equipment, which portends the difficulty of regaining the territories lost by Kiev.

The magazine also points out that the ongoing battle in the halls of Congress regarding aid to Ukraine indicates the presence of problems in the future, as the matter depends on the next new American president and his view of supporting Kiev.

That is why it is a mistake for European leaders to view US aid as anything more than a temporary reprieve. This war is likely to continue for many years in a stalemate.

The report indicated that the most realistic situation for Ukraine now is to proceed to a long-term stalemate in the conflict arena.

On Wednesday, Joe Biden signed legislation to aid allies, including Ukraine, which is receiving $61 billion.

For its part, the Kremlin said that the decision to allocate additional aid to Kiev was expected, as it would further destroy Ukraine and enrich the United States.
