The European Central Bank (ECB) on Monday announced measures to integrate the fight once morest climate change into its monetary policy.
By taking into account all sorts of climate change considerations, the central bank hopes to incentivize eurozone businesses and financial institutions to reduce their carbon emissions.
“With these decisions, we are transforming our commitment to fight climate change into concrete actions,” said ECB President Christine Lagarde.
The ECB has not yet disclosed details of the measures that will be taken, but revealed that it will start publishing climate-related information on corporate bond portfolios on a regular basis from the first quarter of 2023.
