The goal of the newly founded East Hesse Heart Failure Network is to sustainably improve the care of patients with heart failure in the region.

Fulda – Heart failure (heart failure) is a serious chronic disease that can progress over time even with the best medical care. It often develops on the basis of other diseases. “For example, years of high blood pressure or coronary heart disease can cause damage or increased workload on the heart,” says a press release from the Fulda Clinic.

Fulda: Heart failure network in East Hesse aims to improve care

Patients with heart failure therefore need different care options at different times: from the family doctor to the cardiology specialist to hospitals that offer standard or maximum care. “The heart failure network will set up an organizational framework for the cooperation of all medical actors in the East Hesse region so that there are no longer any gaps at the care interfaces,” it continues.

Patients with heart failure would be diagnosed earlier and treatment processes would be optimized. This would “significantly improve” the performance and quality of life of the affected patients. The new network is under the patronage of the German Heart Foundation, which advocates for the interests of patients.

“Firstly, to recognize heart failure and secondly to ‘stay on the ball’ with all the necessary measures if heart failure is already known, are the main goals of the network,” explains Prof. Dr. Volker Schächinger represents the management team of the network of clinics and practices, in which the associations of general practitioners (East Hesse Health Network and East Hesse Outpatient Medicine) are also represented.

For this purpose, the network’s partners have set up special care structures that have been certified by the German Society for Cardiology (DGK) as a heart failure focus, including the heart failure focus practices in the Landarzt MVZ and the MVZ Altstadt-Carre as well as the Heart Failure Unit “) for severe heart failure at the maximum care cardiothoracic center Fulda (Klinikum Fulda), which is also associated with the heart failure specialist outpatient clinic at the MVZ Osthessen.

The other surrounding clinics take on important tasks in the regular care of patients with heart failure.

56 new apartments are being built for the clinic’s employees and medical students: the construction project on Pacelliallee recently celebrated its topping-out ceremony. (uh)
