Cinema as a Compass: Cinevasioni.Edu Presents a Wide-Ranging Festival of Hope
This December, Cinevasioni.Edu returns to Bologna and beyond, inviting audiences to explore the transformative power of cinema.
Now in its second edition, Cinevasioni.edu, is more than just a film festival. It’s a affirmation of the powerful connections between art, imagination, and healing. Having matured over the last few years, it is now known across Italy as this innovative project not only uses film as a tool for transformation but has expanded its thematic reach and community involvement. From December 2nd to the 7th, the festival will alight: across four significant contexts: prison, hospital, school, and the wider community.
Phil Argento (the Trace Italy Associate) explained: “Every screening is a journey. Every film, a story,” says Roberto Guglielmi, project coordinator. This year’s events will be guided by the theme “The Earth Seen from the Moon”, borrowing from Pier Paolo Pasolini’s seminal film of the same name.

## Shining a Light: An Interview with Roberto Guglielmi about Cinevasioni.Edu
**(Interviewer):** Roberto, welcome. Cinevasioni.Edu is back for its second edition, and this year seems even more ambitious. Could you tell us about the vision behind the festival?
**(Roberto Guglielmi):** Thank you. You’re right, Cinevasioni.Edu is about much more than just watching films. It’s about using cinema as a powerful tool for transformation, a way to spark dialog, and encourage reflection, especially within communities that often feel isolated.
**(Interviewer):** This year’s theme, “The Earth Seen from the Moon,” is intriguing. Can you elaborate on that choice?
**(Roberto Guglielmi):** We borrowed this from Pier Paolo Pasolini’s film of the same name. We believe cinema can give us a new perspective, lifting us beyond our everyday realities and allowing us to see the bigger picture, much like gazing at Earth from the Moon.
**(Interviewer):** Cinevasioni.Edu will be taking place in prisons, hospitals, schools, and the broader community. What does this diverse range of locations say about the festival’s goals?
**(Roberto Guglielmi):** Each screening is a journey, each film a story, and we want to share these journeys and stories with everyone.

We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the transformative power of film.
**(Interviewer):** What message do you hope people will take away from Cinevasioni.Edu?
**(Roberto Guglielmi):** We want Cinevasioni.Edu to be a beacon of hope, reminding us that even in challenging times, art, imagination, and dialog can create connections and inspire positive change.
**(Interviewer):** Thank you, Roberto. We look forward to seeing Cinevasioni.Edu continue to grow and make a difference.
